That Kooky Trio saved my Sister’s Life
Julie and Bob made a distinctly incongruous looking couple. Together for 20 years they were ridiculously happy and content. You know the kissy, kissy, hold hands, did everything together couple. Yah, those guys. But for whatever stupid reason, the saying is that, all good things must end. That end came November 7, 2008 when Bob passed away. I’ve never unconditionally loved a man like my sister did her Bob. So I’m not sure which of us is to be pitied the more. Julie, was devastated and inconsolable. Enter Stoney, a cool mixed Pomeranian and Gypsy a crazy black lab with separation issues. Three years later she adopted another rescue dog. If you can believe it, with even more anxiety issues, Shih Tzu, Rocky. Honestly Its’ unclear who rescued who. She saved them from being “put down” and they needed her love and nurturing. The love and care she’d stored-up for Bob, she poured out on them while she recovered from her staggering loss. That kooky trio saved my sister’s life.

Everybody’s got a Story
Everybody’s got a story. Moreover not all as profound or moving as my sister’s or maybe even more so. [A guide dog leads its owner to safety down seventy-seven flights of stairs in the World Trade Center before the building collapses. A female gorilla in a zoo picks up and protects an unconscious toddler who falls into her enclosure. An elderly dog named Frisky keeps his owner awake and alive when Hurricane Katrina floods the house. Winnie the cat saves her owners from carbon monoxide poisoning. Animals, both wild and domestic, have become heroes when they’ve come to the rescue of humans. Unquestionably these are heartwarming, true stories, by Author, Sandra Markle, in her book Animal Hero’s – True Rescue Stories. Incidentally this book can be found on Amazon. These stories significantly show how dogs, cats, cows, monkeys, and even dolphins use their normal sense or special training to help people in trouble or in need worldwide.]

We Exist Because
In the aftermath of Bob’s death, Julie and I, subsequently built our business and aptly named it, Ashes 2 Essenz. We’re certainly influenced by Julie’s quirky trio of dog rescuers, Stoney, Gypsy and Rocky. The pet and animal interest stories of friends were great motivators. But another compelling reason for me are the four cat characters living with me: Shadow, Fat Albert, Nibbler and Budda (Bud-da). Above all, the purpose of Ashes 2 Essenz, is to provide an alternative giving platform for families, friends and “Givers of Gifts”. On balance we offer a medley of recognition and bereavement gifts that honor heroic, loving sensitive animals and pets.
